New Shoes

To start off, I love to run. It gives me a chance to be free, clear my head, and relax. Since I love to run so much I started running 5ks for an added bonus. Well, now I've lost my mind and signed up for a 1/2 marathon in November! I am training on my own so this blog is a way to keep myself motivated and focused as well as a way to keep you updated on my progress.

So, this past weekend my mom and I went to San Antonio and I purchased a new pair of running shoes. I had my old shoes for 8 months so it was time for a new pair! The salesman did some tests on my feet and I had to walk around in my socks. The floor was so slippery I almost busted several times! I then stood on a computer sensored platform (much like a Wii Fit board only more specialized). The salesman said something about my foot being neutral vs. light and I how I could wear either one. I have no idea what he was talking about but went along with it and tried several pairs of shoes on that he brought out for me. After much deliberating, I chose a pair and marveled at how great they were. These were going to be the shoes that would shave minutes off my pace and make my run easier!

Monday night was the first night I ran in my new shoes. I don't know if my expectations were too high (what? these aren't magic running shoes?) but I did not enjoy my run and my feet were actually more uncomfortable. Sigh! I had just spent a good chunk of change on these shoes. What was I going to do? I ran again Tuesday and again this morning and each time I ran things got better.

Now I believe the shoes are going to work great! I guess I just had to break them in. By the way, they are neon yellow and purple. How cool!

Until next time, happy running!
